CSR Initiative: A Meaningful Day at the Red Cross Home for the Disabled
At BARE International Singapore, we believe in giving back to the community and creating positive, meaningful experiences for both our team and those we serve. Recently, the team participated in a heartwarming CSR activity at the Red Cross Home for the Disabled, an institution dedicated to providing special care to individuals with at least two or more disabilities, such as cerebral palsy, autism with lower IQ, and other conditions. Most residents are non-verbal and require constant care and attention.
The Red Cross Home stands out with its inclusive facilities, including a beautiful garden and leisure areas that create a peaceful and nurturing environment for its residents.
For many of us, this visit was an eye-opening experience. With no or limited prior interaction with people with disabilities, we were unsure of what to expect. However, within minutes of being there, we felt a deep connection and sense of purpose. Over the course of three meaningful hours, our team engaged in activities like coloring sessions, sharing moments of relaxation by watching television, and even helping the residents by spoon-feeding them food and water during their tea break.
This was more than just a volunteering effort—it was a profound learning experience. We realized how important it is to extend compassion, empathy, and support to those around us. The smiles, small gestures of gratitude, and quiet moments of interaction left an indelible mark on our hearts.
Our time at the Red Cross Home reminded us to be thankful for what we have and to always look for opportunities to lend a helping hand to those in need.
As a team, we walked away with a deeper appreciation for life’s blessings and a renewed commitment to making a difference, no matter how small.
